While searching for sightseeings in Georgia, we found two caves in Kutaisi neighbourhood. These are Prometheus and Sataplia caves. We visited both caves, but this article is about the smaller one – Sataplia Cave.
Sataplia Cave is located on Sataplia National Reserve territory. So while visiting cave, you will have an opportunity to walk along a beautiful park and see footprints of dinosaurs in a pavilion located near the entrance.

Even though the cave was discovered a long time ago. But during last years its territory was renovated. And now it looks like same object in Europe.
Funny sign near the cave entrance.
We bout our tickets and waiting for a guide near the entrance to this huge park. The first point on our way is a pavilion with footprints.
Curvy path inside building.
Here is a footprint!
Let’s go up…
This is a footprint of some predator!
This territory was a seashore in ancient times. That’s why it has many footprints and all of them are deep and sharp.
There are special buttons on our path. Pressing the button enables special lighting for tracks!
Let’s keep moving forward. The way to the cave is not a short one. So there are dinosaur statues in bushes for tourists’ fun.
We’re almost there! The entrance to cave is cut through the rock and there is a narrow path before…
What a beautiful view!
It looks like one of the tourists visited this place before us was bored by guide and decided to draw some modern rock pictures 🙂 “Sataplia” means “honey” in Georgian language. The cave was named like this because of wild bees living on cliffs.
Finally we’re inside. It is extremely beautiful and exciting…
Cave Plan. It is not as small as it was said to be…
Stalactites (formations hanging down from the ceiling).
Stalagmites (formation growing from the floor).
And stalagnates (pillar-like formations).
Nice lighting around…
Bright and juicy colors…
Fantastically looking forms…
Long passages…
Streaming water…
It is so amazing!
Suddenly we came to the end of the cave and we have to get outside… 🙁
There’s special ground for groups from schools.
And cafe… But it seems to be closed in the spring…
There is a pavilion with dinosaur bones and some pictures of archeological excavations held in this area.
A little walk along the park…
…and we are near a beautiful viewpoint (probably it works as a cafe in summer).
Isn’t it a scenic view!
It is quite scary to stay on a glass above nothing 🙂
And here is our short video from Sataplia Cave:
