Georgia is a very pleasant place for travelling in spring… Mountains are green, trees are being covered by leaves and flowers – everything in bloom. That’s why the Botanical Garden was one of the most important places to visit during our stay in Batumi.

You can get here by car, by taxi, by bus… and even by train…
or bicycle! 🙂
The ticket price is 8 Lari (about 4 EUR) for adults. And this price is much more then reasonable for the sightseeing of this kind! You can spend the whole day here. And not only a day! There are monthly tickets for everyday walks 🙂
Several generations were working hard on building Batumi Botanical Garden. In 1881, D’alfons planted here palm trees, oleanders, olive trees, cypresses and cedars ordered from France. Nowadays, the oldest park part founded by D’alfons is being called “Lower Park”.
In 1912, Russian botanist, Andrey Krasnov, established Batumi Botanical Garden. He reached leading botanical gardens in the world and ordered plants from America, India, New Zeland and Japan.
For example, here is Japanese Camellia. It can be white,…
…red,…
… and pink 🙂
The leading role was assigned to the study and dissemination of useful plants. There were created six phytogeographical divisions: America, Japan, Far East, Himalaya, Australia, Chile and New Zealand (marked by different colours on garden’s map).
Here is Japanese garden:
A beautiful place for walking around!
The park also has numerous fountains with fish…
…beautiful staircases…
…and viewpoints with wonderful views to the city and the sea!
Are you tired? Keep moving on bus…
…drink some fresh water from numerous springs…
…do some pictures…
…find new friends…
…or have some fun! 🙂
Tens, hundreds, thousands of plants!
You can not only look at them, but also touch them!
Or even eat them!
While walking in garden…
…we were followed by two obtrusive dogs…
… and numerous cats! (we could take a picture of one cat… others were scared by dogs 🙂 )
You should certainly visit the sea side! Marvellous view to the city and the sea!
Georgians are fans of graffiti…
…and politics 🙂
Even the best adventures come to the end. It is getting late. Couple more pictures and let’s go back to Batumi!
