Our way began in Novosibirsk, Russia. The way to Azerbaijan’s border took 6 days. Then we had a chance to spend 1.5 days in a beautiful city – Baku.
Day 8
There is one of UNESCO heritage sites on the way to Georgia – Gobustan Rock Art museum.
While getting out of the city, we met Iranian trucker with his shoes on a sideboard. We couldn’t leave that guy without shoes 🙂 So we used parallel lane to overtake him, opened window and started waiving with with navigator’s shoe 😀 After couple seconds the guy understood what we’re trying to show him and pulled over.
The museum is just 60 km far from the city. So we did this way quickly.
The tour starts in a small museum.
The museum is well equipped with modern LCD displays and led lighting.
Here you will learn how to interpret rock arts…
…and see some scenes from ancient times.
Let’s go out!
Some photos outside…
And we have to go again. Saddle up! 🙂
Enjoying beautiful sunset!
During our tour in museum, we found out that there are mud volcanoes nearby! We were in a hurry to find the place… Locals could hardly advise the way. But we finally found em!
This place looks like the surface of Mars 😀
How could I miss touching some warm mud inside a volcano?!
Suzuki Grand Vitara decided to touch volcano as well… Or tried to prove itself to be a real SUV… A one wrong turn and it stucks in the mud. Ha-ha. Do not try to do this without a real SUV that can get you out 🙂
We always have a rope.
Vitara left some tracks…
…and got dirty.
But it is not the end of our way. We need to get closer to Georgia. There are two roads – southern road and northern road. We decided to go by southern, but it was so foggy so we decided to move to the north. The road happened to be so bad that started searching for a hotel, willing to continue our way in the morning. The closest hotel was located in Ivanovka village.
The road near the village was perfect and we expected the hotel to be as perfect as the road… But no luck!
The only hotel didn’t seem to be working. Locals told that we should knock into the third house to the right to find the owner. But it was too late to wake everyone up, so we decided to continue our search on the highway.
We finally found the hotel. And the 8th day of our trip ended 🙂
Day 9
We bought some fruits and cakes in the morning.
And started our way forward.
We met a funny motor bike.
Some nice monuments:
These concrete-made books are dedicated to famous poet – Nizami Ganjavi.
This is the end of our route through Azerbaijan. Tbilisi is waiting ahead 🙂
